Agave parryi packs thick, broad leaves into a neat rosette with an almost artichoke-like outline. The cool blue-grey colouring is set off by dark teeth and pointed tips. Its comparatively compact scale suits a substantial pot, raised bed or carefully drained succulent display. Slow growth rewards a permanent position where its shape can be enjoyed in every season.
Growing conditions:
Choose full sun and exceptionally free-draining, gritty soil, keeping winter rain away from the crown where possible. Cold tolerance depends strongly on dryness and plant maturity, so protect young or potted plants from severe frost.
Maximum size:
The rosette reaches approximately 30–50 cm tall and 50–100 cm wide; a flower stem on a very mature plant may reach about 500 cm.
