Aristaloe aristata, still widely sold as Aloe aristata, forms neat rosettes of pointed green leaves patterned with white markings. Fine leaf tips and a gently textured surface give it a delicate appearance. Orange-red tubular flowers rise above established plants on slender stems. It is a charming choice for a pot where its intricate foliage can be viewed close up.
Growing conditions:
Grow in a bright position with free-draining, gritty compost, watering moderately during active growth. Keep much drier in winter and protect from frost, especially while young or grown in a small pot.
Maximum size:
Rosettes reach around 15–20 cm tall, with clumps spreading to approximately 30–50 cm; flower stems can reach about 50 cm.
