Digitalis grandiflora carries elegant spires of creamy-yellow tubular flowers above a clump of dark green leaves. The gentle colour blends beautifully with ferns, purples and other woodland-style companions. As a perennial foxglove, it can return for several seasons in suitable conditions, offering a more lasting presence than familiar biennial types. Like all foxgloves, it is toxic if eaten by people or pets.
Growing conditions:
Plant in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, ideally in partial shade. Avoid extremes of drought or waterlogging, and remove spent main spikes to encourage side flowers.
Maximum size:
Approximately 50–100 cm tall and up to 50 cm wide.
