Salvia involucrata is a substantial perennial with heart-shaped green leaves and long, tubular pink flowers. Rounded pink bracts surround the developing buds, adding interest before the flowers open. Its broad foliage makes a lush backdrop for smaller flowers, while its height helps build layers in an exotic border. This is a salvia with presence, especially when the late-season garden needs a fresh splash of colour.

Growing conditions:
Plant in sun or light partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil with shelter from cold winds. In colder areas, overwinter plants under cover or protect established crowns with a generous dry mulch.

Maximum size:
Approximately 100–150 cm tall and 50–100 cm wide.
