Agave ovatifolia has unusually broad leaves that curve together into a handsome, rounded rosette. Their pale blue-green colouring can look almost silvery in strong light. Its generous proportions make it particularly effective as a single specimen surrounded by gravel or low planting. Allow enough space to appreciate the whole shape, including those sharp leaf tips.
Growing conditions:
Grow in full sun in sharply drained soil or a gritty container mix, with shelter from excessive winter rain. Although more tolerant of cool conditions than many agaves, it still benefits from frost protection in cold or wet gardens.
Maximum size:
Approximately 100–150 cm tall and 150–250 cm wide for the mature rosette; flowering stems rise above the foliage.
