Parodia leninghausii, also known as Notocactus leninghausii, starts as a rounded cactus and gradually develops a taller, columnar shape. Fine golden spines catch the light, giving the plant a warm glow. Mature specimens may produce lemon-yellow flowers near the top. Older plants can form clusters, creating an attractive group of golden columns.
Growing conditions:
Grow in bright light with protection from scorching midday sun under glass, using sharply drained cactus compost. Water moderately during growth and keep much drier in a cool, frost-free place over winter.
Maximum size:
Eventually approximately 50–100 cm tall and up to 50 cm wide as a clump, developing slowly over several years.
