Agave filifera forms compact rosettes of pointed green leaves decorated with distinctive white fibres. Those curling threads soften the outline and reward a close look. Its manageable proportions make it particularly appealing for pots, raised displays and small collections of architectural plants. A mature plant may eventually flower, but the evergreen rosette provides the lasting interest.
Growing conditions:
Grow in full sun in gritty, very well-drained compost, watering during active growth and keeping almost dry in winter. Overwinter under frost-free cover in colder or wetter gardens.
Maximum size:
Approximately 30–50 cm tall and wide for the rosette; an eventual flower stem may reach around 250 cm.
