Roldana petasitis produces broad, deeply veined green leaves with a soft, velvety surface. Its loose, branching shape builds a leafy backdrop that contrasts beautifully with finer foliage. Yellow daisy-like flowers can appear from winter into spring where the stems survive under mild or protected conditions. The foliage remains the main attraction, especially in a summer border designed around bold textures.
Growing conditions:
Grow in a sheltered spot with fertile, moist but well-drained soil and sun or light shade. Protect from severe cold, keeping a plant under cover in colder areas where winter survival is uncertain.
Maximum size:
Approximately 250–400 cm tall and wide where overwintered successfully, usually smaller where cut back by frost or kept in a pot.
