Gymnocalycium denudatum is a compact cactus with a low, rounded body and broad, gently defined ribs. Its pale spines lie close to the surface in distinctive little clusters. Large creamy-white flowers, sometimes tinged pink, rise above the plant and look wonderfully oversized for its modest frame. Display it in a simple pot to let those details stand out.
Growing conditions:
Grow in bright, filtered light with some gentle sun, using a very free-draining cactus compost. Water during active growth only after the mix has dried, and keep dry and frost-free in winter.
Maximum size:
Up to approximately 10 cm tall and 15 cm across in cultivation, often smaller.
