Erysimum ‘Bowles’s Mauve’ forms a bushy evergreen mound topped by upright stems of rich mauve flowers. Its unusually long flowering season makes it a useful link between spring displays and summer planting. The grey-green leaves combine especially well with lavender, grasses and warm orange flowers. Although relatively short-lived, it earns its place through sheer generosity of bloom.
Growing conditions:
Plant in full sun in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil. Trim lightly after flowering flushes to encourage a compact shape, and avoid wet winter ground.
Maximum size:
Approximately 50–100 cm tall and wide, commonly around 75 cm when established.
