Caesalpinia gilliesii carries finely divided leaves that give the shrub a soft, airy appearance. Its yellow flowers send out long crimson stamens, creating a wonderfully theatrical contrast. The display looks especially striking against a warm wall or a plain background where the flower detail stands out. It brings a distinctive subtropical character to a large container or a very sheltered garden.

Growing conditions:
Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil with good shelter. Outside the mildest gardens, use a container and overwinter in a bright, frost-free place.

Maximum size:
Eventually approximately 250–400 cm tall and 150–250 cm wide, with pruning and container growing keeping it smaller.
