Abutilon ‘Orange Hot Lava’ produces nodding orange flowers traced with dark red veins and held in deep red calyces. Broad, lobed green leaves provide a soft backdrop that makes the flowers stand out. Its relaxed shrub-like habit suits a sheltered patio, a warm wall or a large seasonal container. Place it where the hanging blooms can be admired at eye level.
Growing conditions:
Grow in a sheltered, sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil or peat-free potting compost, watering and feeding during growth. Overwinter frost-free in colder areas and reduce watering while growth slows.
Maximum size:
Approximately 150–250 cm tall and 50–100 cm wide, with container growing and pruning limiting size.
