Canna ‘Musifolia’ produces towering stems clothed in broad green leaves edged and veined with bronze and red tones. The scale is wonderfully theatrical, making it ideal for the back of an exotic border. Small orange flowers may appear in a warm summer, but flowering is less reliable in the UK and the foliage does the real decorating. Pair it with finer leaves to make its proportions feel even more impressive.
Growing conditions:
Grow in full sun in a sheltered spot with rich soil, ample moisture and regular feeding. Keep rhizomes frost-free over winter, lifting them in colder gardens or protecting established clumps in very mild sites.
Maximum size:
Approximately 250–400 cm tall and 50–100 cm wide at maturity, although cooler summers and pots restrict growth.
