Amorphophallus konjac produces a large, finely divided leaf that resembles a miniature tropical canopy. Its stout, mottled stalk adds interest all the way down to the pot. A mature tuber may also produce a dramatic dark purple flower structure before the leaf appears. The flower has a strong, unpleasant smell, so this particular performance is best enjoyed with thoughtful placement.

Growing conditions:
Grow in bright, filtered light in rich, free-draining compost, watering and feeding while the leaf is actively growing. Keep the dormant tuber frost-free over winter and avoid wet compost during dormancy.

Maximum size:
Approximately 100–150 cm tall and wide for the mature leaf canopy; size depends strongly on the age and size of the tuber.
