Hesperantha coccinea ‘Major’ forms clumps of narrow green leaves and upright stems bearing open, scarlet flowers. Its late flowering season makes it especially valuable when many summer perennials are beginning to slow down. The simple, bright blooms combine beautifully with grasses and other autumn colour. It also makes a lovely cut flower, bringing a little of the late garden indoors.

Growing conditions:
Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in fertile soil that stays moist but drains freely. Water during dry spells and apply a protective mulch in colder gardens.

Maximum size:
Approximately 60 cm tall in flower and 30–50 cm wide, increasing into a larger clump over time.
