Salvia confertiflora combines substantial, textured green leaves with long, slender flower spikes. Deep red calyces and small orange-red flowers give the stems a warm, velvety appearance. The unusual colour and texture make it an excellent companion for bronze foliage and other exotic planting. It is a tender perennial, best enjoyed outdoors in summer and protected when temperatures fall.
Growing conditions:
Grow in a warm, sheltered position in sun, with fertile, well-drained soil and regular summer moisture. Overwinter in a bright, frost-free place, reducing watering while growth is slow.
Maximum size:
Approximately 100–150 cm tall and up to 50 cm wide under typical cultivation, with larger plants possible in long, warm seasons.
