Eryngium serra forms a rosette of long green leaves with conspicuously toothed edges. Branched summer stems carry numerous small, pale greenish-white flowerheads, creating an airy canopy above the foliage. The contrast between bold leaves and fine flowering stems makes it particularly effective with grasses and other informal perennials. It is a distinctive choice for gardeners who enjoy texture as much as colour.

Growing conditions:
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil with room for the rosette to develop. Avoid winter waterlogging and keep its sharp leaves clear of narrow paths.

Maximum size:
Approximately 150–160 cm tall in flower and around 100 cm wide.
